Queens Road House, Berkeley - 2010

Gretchen Ross, Queens Road House by Geoffrey Holton & Associates, photo M. Kibbey

Together, Geoff Holton and I designed the Queens Road House for a young couple living in the Berkeley hills. Their home was featured in the 2011 AIA East Bay home tour and also won a 2011 AIA East Bay Exceptional Residential Award. I was responsible for construction drawings, consultant coordination, and permitting. I also performed much of the construction administration, both on and off the job site.

Features of the home include: efficient framing, natural ventilation, durable exterior materials, solar hot water panels, radiant hydronic heating in the floors, recycled / sustainable materials, and a 9500 gal. rainwater catchment system designed to provide landscape irrigation throughout the entire summer.
