Haines's curatorial work challenges us to reexamine how we think about place, while emphasizing the role that artists play in fostering dialogue about the environment and human rights. Current and past site-specific installations and exhibitions include Andy Goldsworthy's Spire, Wood Line, and Tree Fall in the Presidio; @Large: Ai Weiwei on Alcatraz, Ai Weiwei's transformation of Alcatraz Island, and group shows in former military batteries and chapels. From sanctuary to freedom of expression, FOR-SITE's projects address important cultural issues that resonate on both a personal and collective level. | Thu, Jun 27, 2019 5:30 pm-7:30 pm | YOUR HISTORY IS IMPORTANT: IAWA meetingShareLocation: San Francisco Main Library Stong Conference Room on Floor 1 We are excited to announce that the two archivists, Samantha Winn and Aaron Purcell, Ph.D. will come to the San Francisco Bay Area in late June of 2019 and be available to consult with women architects and, if applicable, their male office partners, about their donation of records to the IAWA. They will give an introductory presentation for OWADP members and others interested in the Archive at a public meeting on: Recording your history is rewarding however it takes some preparation to preserve your work records and donate them to an archive, but in June two archivists from the International Archive of Women in Architecture (IAWA) will come to the Bay Area and help you! Younger and older women architects are encouraged to think about filling the gap in architectural history by saving their work and contributing it to an archive. The archivists will be available for individual consultations either Thursday June 27, or Friday June 28 at locations yet to be determined. They will EVEN accept collections you have selected and packed for mailing and they will ship them from here to the IAWA so that you do not have to deal with it nor pay for it.
