Elayne Muratet May - Passes AwayLeslie Golden - 4/19/10 12:15PM | ShareElayne Francis Muratet May, cherished friend to many AWA members, passed suddenly on Tuesday, March 9th in Carmel, Indiana, encircled by family and without pain. Elayne was an AWA member during the 1980s and continued her warm AWA friendships long after she and her family left California for Indiana, reconnecting at OWA and AIA events, while traveling, and on Facebook. The AWA is currently soliciting contributions to this named scholarship The award will be made at our annual scholarship program and reception on May 15, 2010, at the offices of Johnson Fain Architects, 1201 North Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90012 The program will include a remembrance of Elayne and the award of the scholarship in her name. Your contribution will be tax deductible as a gift to our AWA Foundation, a California 501(c)(3) Corporation. Please send your contribution in any amount to AWAF at 22815 Frampton Ave., Torrance, CA 90501-5034 Mark your check "for Elayne May Scholarship" You will receive a receipt for tax purposes Elayne was born November 22, 1949 in Wichita, Kansas. She graduated from SCI-Arc in Los Angeles, in 1988, became a licensed architect and formed her own firm. She practiced as Elayne F. May Design, AIA, a residential architecture firm, for 15 years before she retired to enjoy her love of the outdoors, the arts, theater and world travel. Her memory lives on with her family and her many AWA friends.
