Welcome back from summer and vacations. We will continue to update you on the 30th Anniversary Celebrations. All Committees are working very hard to finalize their programs and they are seeking more member participation in organization and preparation work.

Trip to Ecuador

The trip to Quito-Ecuador is planned for June 19 through July 1, 2003. The travel logistics was to limit the group to a small number of 12 OWA members on a first come first serve basis. A deposit of $500.00 to secure a place must be sent to Marda by October 30th 2002. Marda Stothers is the overall trip coordinator and Gilda Puente-Peters from Ecuador will be leading the trip. The trip budget is expected to be around $2,000.00 including round trip tickets to Quito, lodging, in some cases with breakfast and local transportation.

Members could plan to either go before or stay after to extend the planned trip on their own. Possible places of interest to visit in Ecuador could be the Rain Forest, the Coastal Region (beaches) or the Galapagos Islands.

Steering Committee Note

Steering Committee members have traditionally attended the yearly retreat to share and to update the membership. However, there were younger SC members who could not afford the retreat, so in 1998 Mui Ho proposed that the SC members shall go to the retreat once during their tenure free. The costs shall be born by the OWA general fund. It was approved in the October General Meeting 1998.

The Steering Committee is seeking an Administrative Assistant who can take on the production work of the Newsletter and updating work of the OWA web site. Please forward your leads to Mui Ho.
