Ruby, After the Bath (6" x 6" mixed media)
Ruby the piglet was my big summer project. She was rejected by her adolescent mother, but rescued by me at 5 days old, from Clark Summit Farm in Tomales. "Gloucester Old Spot" is her rare breed, also known as "cottage pig" or "orchard pig." Developed in England, they were valued for being self sufficient. These pigs are typically eaten at 6 months, but I found Ruby a permanent home at a farm animal sanctuary.
