Navigating Life's Transitions: Tools for Change
The Program: Regardless of our present stage of life, change
is certain. As change in our personal lives and the planet increases
at an ever more accelerated pace, the need to successfully
navigate the transitions created by change becomes ever more
critical.

In this workshop, through experiential exercises and dialogue, we
will learn and practice simple tools to assist us consciously and
effectively move through life's continual transitions with ease and
clarity, so we may make wise and appropriate decisions. We will
also learn how to identify and deal with resistance to change, so we
may more easily access our innate wisdom and intuition.
Our presenter, Dr. Joan Steadman, is an ordained minister, spiritual
counselor, speaker, author and facilitator of workshops and retreats
nationwide. She has received the Gandhi King Ikeda Award for
fostering the spirit of peace and unity in community. She has
received honorary doctorates of divinity from both The Centers for
Spiritual Living and the Agape International Spiritual Center. In
February of 2014, Mayor Jean Quan presented her with the Mayor's
Proclamation from the City of Oakland and Representative Barbara
Lee honored her with a special congressional recognition.
Fun with Music & Movement: This year, on Saturday,
we will join Liv Schaffer, an Alonzo King Lines Ballet alumna, for a
session of dance related to the theme of Transitions. On Sunday,
Leslie Murphy will lead us in a session of Movement/Mindfulness
Yoga. For live music and dancing on Saturday night, an Irish band
The Jammy Dodgers, led by versatile instrumentalist and singer
Autumn Rhodes will play a lively set of traditional Celtic tunes.
Show & Tell: At Friday night's show and tell, each of us will
have two minutes to tell the group about current themes in our
personal and/or professional lives, especially transitions.
Art project: This year, the art project will feature symbols of
your own transitions: more details will follow.
